Expeditions are fun, but for safety reasons you should avoid travelling all by yourself. In this section, you can post your expedition plans in order to find travel buddies or simply ask more experienced drivers for advice.

I am planning to travel to Iceland in July 2009. It will be a 14 days trip through the highlands (Myvatn-Askja-F26 Sprengisansdur-Tangafoss and - if there is time left - F35). Arrival in Iceland is scheduled for the first week of July 2009. Whoever wants to join is welcome to do so - just contact me via robert@go4x4.eu or answer to this post! As always, the best pics will be published on Go4x4.eu after the trip. Until then, hit the trails!!

Anyone of you out there using the ARB Bushmaster X-Jack Air Jack? What are your experiences? How big is the hose, does it fit onto larger exhaust pipes as well?

You might check out http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/4x4-off-r.... You can also use a 12V compressor to fill up the Air Jack in case the hose doesn't fit. Apparently, it works just fine (don't have one myself though...)

- Overland to Dakar

I am planning to drive my Land Rover Defender 110 XS to Dakar and then ship it across to the Island of Sal, Cape Verde.
I'm no stranger to dessert driving (I lived and worked in Saudi Arabia for 5 years) but Western Africa is all very new. I've read Robert Köstingers (excellent) piece on his trip but could use more info on vehicle set up etc.
Thanks.
Also, for expert advice on specific vehicle-related questions I recommend getting in touch with Tom Sheppard via mail@desertwinds.co.uk (and reading his book Vehicle-dependent expedition guide, see http://www.desertwinds.co.uk/expedition_guide_0...). Good luck with your expedition!
